Do you want to video chat someone from your computer but don’t have a Webcam to use with it? Perhaps your Laptop’s built-in Webcam just broke, and you need to make an urgent video chat? No problem, you can use your Android device as Webcam for your Windows computer.
All you’ve to do is to install DroidCam app on your Android device from the Play Store and the DroidCam desktop client on your computer from its official website. The DroidCam desktop client is available for Windows and Linux computers, but in this article, we’re going to focus on Windows.
Once you’ve installed DroidCam application on your Android device and the DroidCam desktop client on your Windows computer, you’re ready to go. There are four ways to connect DroidCam to your computer—Wi-Fi, USB cable, Wi-Fi server and Bluetooth.
In this article, we’ll show you how to connect DroidCam to your Windows computer over Wi-Fi network, so make sure that both your Android device and your Windows computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Once you’ve made sure of that, follow the steps below.
- Open DroidCam app on your Android device and note down the Wi-Fi IP address along with DroidCam Port.
- After that, open the DroidCam desktop client on your Windows computer and click on the Wi-Fi icon, and then enter the Wi-Fi IP address and DroidCam Port there.
- Check the Video and Audio checkboxes, and then click on Start button to begin the video data transmission.
